Mythological Beliefs

Mythological Beliefs:

The ancient texts have referred to Shri Vighneshwar as Mokshroop Brahm who not only has immense knowledge of art but also eliminates the sorrows of his devotees.

According to an ancient tale, in order to disturb the yagna of King Abhinandan of Hemvati Nagar, Lord Indra created a demon, Vighnasur, who started disrupting all other Vedic yagnas after destroying the king’s yagna.

Anguished at the harassment by Vighnasur; the Gods, and the sages worshipped Lord Gajanan installed in Parashar Ashram when he promised to relieve them of the sufferings inflicted by Vighnasur.

Lord Gajanan took birth as the son of Parshwa and Deepvatsala and annihilated Vighnasur and ordered him not to enter an area where Gajanan was being worshipped. At the same time he blessed the demon that his name would be added to the Lord’s name and it is since then that he came to be known as Vighneshwar.

According to religious sources, after this incident which took place on Bhadra Shukla Chaturthi in Ozar, the Gods installed Vighneshwar Vinayak over here.
